Where's Your Confidence?

Psalm 78:7 - That they should put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments.

Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.

This was the saying on the back of a man's tee shirt. I was with sisters in the Lord at the time and we all chuckled. I asked if I could photograph it.

Several thoughts go through my head as contemplate these words. One regards fear, which I believe is the opposite of confidence. The other is, where do we place our confidence?

This particular tee shirt saying should be how we feel when we set out to do something for the Lord! We needn't worry about understanding the situation. The world might take this little phrase in the way it was obviously intended, when we walk into something that we've not spent time thinking about or weighing in our minds.

But I look at it this way: if God has set about something for us to do, we just do it. We don't worry about the consequences because He has it all figured out for us. If He has called us to do something, then it's a done deal. We can have confidence no matter what.

Proverbs 14:26 - In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge.
