Praise Him!

Psalm 148 about says it all. Short and concise. We are to praise the Lord in all things. Why? Because! Because He was, is and will be...for eternity. Luke  19:40 shows us what Jesus told the Pharisees when they demanded his followers stop blessing and praising Him for all the miracles and things they had seen: But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Without Him we do not exist. Without Him we wouldn't see what we see, smell what we smell or hear what we hear (as I hear the birds gleely singing all around, as I view the green grass and trees and colorful flowers both I and the birds have planted!)

All you see around you He spoke into existence and has nurtured and tended ever since. Oh, sure we put our hands and backs into work but He is the Master Gardener and full time, everlasting Creator. We are to be stewards of what He has given us. We are to acknowledge Him for all He has given us...and praise Him for all things...and that includes in the difficult times where we don't see what His hand is doing and what He might be accomplishing behind the scenes in our lives and the lives of those around us.

Look at stars and clouds. What keeps them in place? Scientists would tell you one thing, but I would tell you another! And all that you see will go on until He chooses to remove them. There is a great song called the Doxology about God's creation and praise that is due Him. I'm partial to Fernando Ortega's version.

Because all things just are, they praise Him. They, in their infinite beauty and even in their times of menacing, praise Him. He is to be exalted because of His greatness, wisdom and creativity. Praise the God of all creation! Please read this Psalm and soak in the message.

Psalm 148

Praise to the LORD from Creation
1 Praise the LORD!

        Praise the LORD from the heavens;
        Praise Him in the heights!
        2Praise Him, all His angels;
        Praise Him, all His hosts!
        3Praise Him, sun and moon;
        Praise Him, all you stars of light!
        4Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
        And you waters above the heavens!

        5Let them praise the name of the LORD,
        For He commanded and they were created.
        6He also established them forever and ever;
        He made a decree which shall not pass away.

        7Praise the LORD from the earth,
        You great sea creatures and all the depths;
        8Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
        Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
        9Mountains and all hills;
        Fruitful trees and all cedars;
        10Beasts and all cattle;
        Creeping things and flying fowl;
        11Kings of the earth and all peoples;
        Princes and all judges of the earth;
        12Both young men and maidens;
        Old men and children.

        13Let them praise the name of the LORD,
        For His name alone is exalted;
        His glory is above the earth and heaven.
        14And He has exalted the horn of His people,
        The praise of all His saints--
        Of the children of Israel,
        A people near to Him.

        Praise the LORD!
